Valentine Afternoons

I love Valentines. It is really one of my favorite holidays because I love red and pink, I love glitter, I love cards, I love words, and I love making Valentines. So this year we had not one but two Valentine Card Making Lunch Parties. The first was with our friends and the second with members of our family.



I found this cute apple idea on Pinterest. And got the vintage looking paper plates, napkins, and cupcake picks at Hobby Lobby. I set out all kinds of papers, stamps, beads, glitter, etc for the craft time.

I got a bit smarter after the first party and changed the tablecloth to a vinyl wipe down one from Walmart.
Now this is a craft table that is being well used. Chaotic and Messy and Beautiful and Inspiring.

More Valentines Cards

I know I shared my Valentines for this year made with the paint chips. I wanted to share these from a couple of years ago that I made.



I stumbled upon a booth selling these antique Valentines for $1 each at Lakewood 400. I could have stood there all day looking at the lovely images and the hilarious wording and the beautiful cursive signatures on the back that read things like "To Ethel Love, Johnny".


I used scrapbooking papers and stickers and embellished the cards. Here are my results.

Making Valentines

I love love love Valentine's Day. I can't help it. I love everything about it but mostly I love making Valentines. I always have. Ever since I was little I can remember using a glue stick and those heart doilies to make beautiful things with my mom. So this year I saw this fun idea in Country Living Magazine and thought I'd give it a try.

First you need a selection of paint swatches in varying Valentine's Day colors. I had fun checking out the names of the paint colors and finding ones that coordinated with the day like Cupid's Arrow and Sweet Heart.


Then use a bit of hairspray on each one so the surface is not so slick and the ink will adhere better. Stamp images on each strip on the paint swatch and let dry. Easy Peasy!


Here are my finished products.


To package them up along with Valentines from my kids, I found this great letter tape at Michaels in the $1 bins. I added it on top of Hot Pink Duct Tape on these cheap mailer envelopes. Voila.
