Nutcracker Brunch and Ornaments

Delaney had a few friends over for a Nutcracker brunch and ornament making fun.

I found these wooden nutcrackers at hobby lobby for under $6. Before the guests arrived, I spray painted them hot pink. For our first activity we decorated them using glitter glue and puffy paints.

We also made bird ornaments...another idea I borrowed from Alisa Burke's wonderful blog. We used permanent markers and puffy paint and glitter glue. Then we attached the birds to clothes pins for easy hanging.

We made a few more ornaments as well...wooden snowflakes like I mentioned in my last post, circle ornaments we made out of coasters and stamps, and cookie cutter ornaments like you can see here. Here are the finished plates full of ornaments.

Making Gifts: Part 1

One of our favorite things around here are Bic Mark-it Permanent Markers. We love them. They have brilliant colors and perfect soft tips and can color on almost anything. I found these wooden frames at Michaels that are ideal for coloring. The Christmas ones were 70% off which made them next to nothing.

We used our Bic markers and colored on them. We also used some Metallic Markers from Walmart. Delaney and I did this first frame together.

Then Delaney did this one by herself. I do not want to give them away. I want a whole wall of these beauties.

Michaels also had snowflakes, big and small. Here is a large one that Delaney made for the top of her pink tree.

And yep, that's toilet paper behind it because our elf got a bit mischievous and tee peed the tree.
