Sublime Doughnuts

Sublime Doughnuts, on 10th street, has been on my list for some time now but we have a standing tradition of Saturday morning Chick-fil-A breakfasts around our house. We finally decided to break tradition for one week only and venture out to the GA Tech Student favorite this morning. It did not disappoint.

The walls are filled with funny doughnut themed artwork and there are doughnut themed kids books all around, sofas, barstools and tables for whatever you feel like sitting on and a plethora of Tech students in their sweats. We ordered at the counter and took our spot at the windows to watch the rainy world pass by.

We sampled several different doughnuts. Including the Reeses and the A-Town Mocha actually in the shape of an A.

We left with a Nutella doughnut for the road in the perfect little to go box that reads "Eat One That's Worth It".

Making Valentines

I love love love Valentine's Day. I can't help it. I love everything about it but mostly I love making Valentines. I always have. Ever since I was little I can remember using a glue stick and those heart doilies to make beautiful things with my mom. So this year I saw this fun idea in Country Living Magazine and thought I'd give it a try.

First you need a selection of paint swatches in varying Valentine's Day colors. I had fun checking out the names of the paint colors and finding ones that coordinated with the day like Cupid's Arrow and Sweet Heart.

Then use a bit of hairspray on each one so the surface is not so slick and the ink will adhere better. Stamp images on each strip on the paint swatch and let dry. Easy Peasy!

Here are my finished products.

To package them up along with Valentines from my kids, I found this great letter tape at Michaels in the $1 bins. I added it on top of Hot Pink Duct Tape on these cheap mailer envelopes. Voila.

If you're making Valentines this year, I'd love to see your ideas too. Please send them to us!

A Child's Perspective of Home Depot

It was an errand packed kind of Saturday and Delaney wanted to come along. I told her we had seven stops and some would be fun and some not so fun. We decided to get the boring out of the way first so after dropping off some samples at a carpet store, we headed to Home Depot. Little did I know how much she would like Home Depot. She would tell you it was the best store of the day.

First off, she spotted the big carpet books and liked flipping the large cards of colors and textures. Then she found these colors with names like Fairy Dust, Twinkle Twinkle, and Slumber Party and decided her room could use some Hot Pink carpet.

Next we tested all the seating options in the outdoor furniture department. She preferred table tops with umbrellas thinking they would be great for picnics in the rain.

Then on to the wonderful paint department which features a whole display of Disney colors, complete with free pamphlets of Disney inspired rooms.

Since her favorite color is yellow, she was in love with the lines on the floor and thought they made fun grids for hopscotching down the aisles.

Next she chose a refrigerator that she really liked because the water and ice maker were easily reachable and she would not need a stool to help herself.

Finally, it was time to check out where there is a better candy selection than Target.

Who knew what a fun place the Home Depot is for little ones! Next time we move, I think I'll let this very opinionated and practical girl help with the renovations.
