A friend of mine asked me to help her daughter's brownie troop earn their painting badges this week. I'm always eager to paint with kids because they are so free, they haven't been ruined by art "rules", and they are not afraid to try something new. Kid art is refreshing and bold and wonderful.
I asked each person to draw a simple image in the center of their canvas. We then bisected the image with circles and lines in all directions. They were to paint each space with a different color, thus evoking a Kandinsky like painting, a stained glass effect. I explained to them how to keep certain colors contained if they wanted to see their image at the end and to use any color anywhere if they didn't care about the image showing at the end.
We ended up with such a variety of beautiful paintings.
They are so creative! Thanks for sharing!
